The dog training industry is a competitive world

Whether we like it or not there is always going to be competition surrounding businesses, however it is down to the individual business owners to whether they see eachother as competition or not.

For me i dont see the point of seeing other trainers as competition, we all got into the industry for the same reason, and whether we have the same journey or not we have the same goal - to train dogs. So why should i see others as competition when i can see them as allies? Most trainers have a speciality, they'll have a problem that they all enjoy solving or type of dog they prefer to work with, so if thats the case why wouldnt i pass on jobs i dont want to deal with? Or may be out of my skill set? By creating an allie i can bounce work back and forth between me and them.

My problem with the dog training industry isnt the difference in the types of training, but the competition. I hate that people will bid against eachother rather than help eachother. Why go out of your way to put people down, or ruin someones name all because they do the same thing as you?

Women with dogs on leashes stand in a park. The dogs are sitting, looking happy. The scene is outdoors with green trees in the background.

At the end of the day if you are good at what you do then your training and your business should speak for itself. I dont feel the need to go and bash other businesses because in the short space of 3 years i have done immensely well for myself and my business speaks for itself. While there may be trainers out there that i dont agree with their methods and techniques, unless i see them physically abusing a dog then i dont need to waste my time bashing them. I need to put my efforts into training my clients, and teaching people the way that i train.

As a consumer if you go to a trainer and they are bashing other clients then its a huge red flag. I do ask clients who they have previously used, but thats the gain information on the type of training they have already done. I dont need to portray my opinion of other pet professionals to potential clients. It isnt professional and its not nice.

We are in this industry for the love of dogs, so we need to work together.
