Christmas can be a fun and exciting time for alot of us, but actually it can be rather dangerous for our pets!
Several of our favourite food and drinks can be toxic to our pets, even some of the Christmas plants. So i'm here to advise you!
If you have a dog who is likely to eat things, then keeping them away during meal times may be best practice.
Your roasted Christmas bones can cause obstruction in the pets throat.
Christmas pudding could be fatal! Full of raisins and alcohol.
Ingredients - alot of the ingredients in our Christmas dinner, buffets or snacks all can be very poisonous for our dogs!
Did you know that alot of the festive plants may also be harmful to your pets?
While pine, fir and spruce are not highly toxic to dogs, the oils they produce and the pine needles that drop from the tree can be an issue. The oils can cause stomach upset, and the needles may get caught/stuck somewhere and cause discomfort! Plants like lillies, poinsettias, holly and mistletoe can be extremely toxic!
Things we may not think about is -
Leaving presents under the tree - dogs may find these enticing, and they may get a little destructive.
Christmas decorations - baubles can be sharp when broken but look like your dogs favourite toy!
Christmas lights - pose a risk for dogs getting tangled!
While we want you to enjoy your Christmas remember to take care of your dog too!
The Christmas vibes may be stressful for your dog, they may not cope with the extra people at home, the music or the new activities that they haven't experienced all year round.
So just keep your pets in mind this winter!
